Date/Entry fee: June 23-26, 2023

  • Entry prior to June 23 is $30.00 per registered angler
  • All entries on June 23, will be $40.00 per registered angler.
  • T-shirts can be picked up at the Captain/Anglers Meeting on Friday, June 18 with your ticket stub or online receipt.
  • Up to four youth anglers (10 & under as of June 24, 2023) may fish for FREE with each paid adult entry. Al l registrations must be received by 8:00 pm, June 23, 2023. Please bring your receipt or ticket stub to the Captain/Anglers meeting in exchange for one meal ticket. NO REFUNDS

REGISTRATION:
Registration for the General Rodeo can be done at any of the official ticket locations, online at pensacolafishingrodeo.com, or at the Captain/Anglers Meeting Friday, June 23 at Flounder’s.

  • Ticket outlet and online registration will end at 8:00 pm, Friday, June 23
  • Registrations at the Captain/Angler Meeting will be taken from 5:00- 8:00 pm.

ELIGIBLE SPECIES:
King Mackerel, Wahoo, Redfish, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel, Dolphin, Speckled Trout, White Trout, Red Snapper (based on Federal & State open seasons), Black Snapper (Mangrove), Croaker, Ladyfish, Mingo, Snapper (vermillion), Bonita, Blue Fish, Sheepshead, Cobia, Barracuda, Grouper and Florida Pompano & Lionfish.

  • All eligible species must be caught by rod-n-reel, except lionfish (electric reels permitted for all species).
  • Lionfish may be caught by any means by a registered rodeo angler.
  • No other devices or methods will be permitted.
  • All fish must comply with FWCC rules and regulations. Only two fish from each eligible species will be weighed per angler per day. Fish will be measured using the Check-It Stick brand measuring device which will be available at the Captain’s Meeting to compare your measuring device to.

HOURS OF FISHING/TERMS:

  • Saturday, June 24, 2023 ~12:01am – 6:00pm, Sunday, June 25, 2023
  • No fishing prior to or after these dates and times.
  • Fishing may be done by land, dock, or boat for the General Rodeo.

SCALES/WEIGH-IN LOCATION:

  • The scales will be located at Flounder’s Chowder House in Pensacola Beach, FL.
  • All fish must be in edible condition and not mutilated. The Torry Meter will be used and a fish entry with a reading of less than seven (7) is subject to disqualification.

OPEN HOURS:

Saturday, June 24, 2023 ~ 2:00 – 7:00pm
Sunday, June 25, 2023 ~ 12:00 – 6:00pm

WEIGH-IN STATION:

  • Only the Rodeo and Junior/Youth Rodeo fish may be brought to the scales by land or boat. There will be a stop-drop-park method for all anglers coming via land to Flounders. We will have parking spots reserved. Vehicles are not allowed to remain parked. These parking spots are for you to drop off your angler(s) and fish and then you need to park your own vehicle in the main parking lots. Al l Santa Rosa Island Authority parking rules must be followed.
  • Any fish being entered in the King or InShore Challenges must be brought to the scales by the registered boat (No Challenge fish are allowed to arrive by land). Angler must be present to weigh in fish.
  • Once a fish is weighed by the tournament weighmaster and signed by the angler it verifies as its final official weight. There will be no re-weighing of any tournament fish after official weight is permitted.

PRIZES:

  • Prizes are limited to one per angler per division. Each division wiLl be awarded 1st -3rd place. Bonus prizes are supplemental awards to the Rodeo prizes. These bonuses include Mystery Weight & Lady Angler.
  • All anglers must be entered in the General Rodeo. Junior Anglers are eligible for the Creighton Tippins Parker Memorial Award.
  • Lion Fish Prizes are based on the total number of fish presented at the weigh-in (2-day aggregate) per boat.
  • Optional Red Snapper Cash Awards, $50 and $100 boat entry.

MYSTERY WEIGHT:

  • There will be two Mystery Weight Bonuses. All registered anglers are eligible for the Mystery Weight Bonus and may win more than one. These bonuses will be awarded to the first angler to weigh an eligible tournament fish between 30 – 50 lbs. and 10 lbs. and under. A weight will be randomly selected on Sunday and will be announced after all fish are weighed. If the exact weights aren’t hit, then the closest to each weight without going over will win.

WEATHER:

This is a Captain’s choice tournament, however, in the event of severe inclement weather conditions, the tournament may be rescheduled for another weekend. Five hours of fishing constitutes a day of fishing and one day of fishing constitutes a tournament. NO REFUNDS will be given if rescheduling is required.

TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE:

The tournament committee shall be the sole judge of any violation of the rules and their decision shall be final. The tournament committee reserves the right to deny any boat or individual an entry into the tournament, without explanation. MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Any unsportsmanlike conduct, validated by substantial evidence, will not be tolerated and may be grounds for disqualification without refund.
  • All formal protests must be written and submitted to the rules committee with a $250.00 cash fee by 9 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2023, to the Tournament Director.
  • All protests will be reviewed by the rules committee and all protesters are subject to a polygraph exam. Participants under 18 yrs of age are not subject to a polygraph exam, but a parent/guardian can be.
  • If a protest is upheld the challenger will receive all or a partial refund of the protest fee minus the polygraph charge. If a protest is NOT upheld, the protest fee is forfeited to the event.
  • The rules committee includes Tournament Chair, Tournament Director, and weighmaster. Any angler or boat that has been previously denied entry, cannot participate unless he or she has written permission from the tournament committee ten days prior to the start of the tournament.
  • The Tournament Committee will be monitoring Channel 68, please keep it clear and use other channels to call boat to boat. Please use courtesy at all times. Please contact Tournament Director, at 850-316-5753

AWARDS CEREMONY:

Monday, June 26, 2023, at Flounder’s Chowder House
Under the event tent, Food & Drink service is available at the ceremony.

Join us for food and drink specials, share your fish stories and celebrate with your fellow anglers before the awards. Non-Alcoholic cocktails will be available for our Jr . Anglers.

  • Each winner has 30 days to collect their prize, after 30 days prizes may be donated. Additional points: Ticket outlets are not agents or representatives of the tournament and, therefore, are not authorized to interpret or amend rules, etc. Pensacola Sports has the final say in any tournament rules and their interpretation.

IN ADDITION TO THE GENERAL RODEO RULES, THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO THE JUNIOR RODEO. YOUTH ANGLERS (UP TO AGE 10) ARE FREE.

ACADEMY JUNIOR ANGLERS (11-15) MUST PAY A $10 REGISTRATION FEE.

Youth Anglers can register for FREE with the registration of a participating General Rodeo Entry.  Up to 4 youth anglers per one registered General Rodeo Entry.

• King Mackerel, Red Snapper, Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel, Mingo Snapper(vermillion), Ladyfish, White Trout, Croaker, Hard Tail, Sheepshead, Pinfish, and Catfish.
• All eligible species must be caught by rod-n-reel (electric reels allowed). No other devices or methods will be permitted. All fish must comply with FWCC rules and regulations.
• Only two fish from each eligible species will be weighed per angler per day. Fish will be measured using the Check-It Stick brand measuring device which will be available at the Captain’s Meeting to compare your measuring device to.

AWARDS CEREMONY:

•Prizes are limited to one per Angler (youth and junior) per division per age group.

Age must be entered on the entry form.

• Youth and Junior Anglers will be divided into two (2) age groups:

Youth ages 10 and under (FREE) & Junior ages 11-15 years old ($10)

• Ages will be based on age as of June 24, 2023. Each division will award 1st through 3rd place in each age group. There are a total of 84 eligible prizes.

• Junior Anglers are not eligible for General Rodeo prizes unless they purchase a General Rodeo ticket for themselves (Junior Anglers’ entry fee is not included in General Rodeo Ticket Price). If entered in the General Rodeo, Junior Anglers will be eligible for prizes in both the General Rodeo and Junior Rodeo. Bonus prizes are supplemental awards to the Rodeo prizes. These bonuses include Mystery Weight, Lady Angler, and Creighton Tippins Parker Memorial Award.

• The Creighton Tippins Parker Memorial Award will be given to one angler in each age group in the youth and junior division to the angler weighing in the largest King Mackerel. Each winner will receive $500 and a trophy.

ENTRY FEE: $350 Per Registered Boat
All participants on the boat must purchase a general rodeo ticket including youth & junior anglers. Any refunds will be minus tournament expenses (challenge fees).

REGISTRATION: Registration can only be done at pensacolafishingrodeo.com or at the Captain/Angler Meeting from 5:00- 8:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Flounder’s Chowder House.
• Online Registration: will end at 8:00 pm, Friday, June 23, 2023.
• All youth and junior anglers on a challenge boat must purchase a rodeo ticket to participate in the King Challenge.

ELIGIBLE SPECIES: King Mackerel is the ONLY eligible fish for the King Mackerel Challenge. Minimum weight of 10 lbs. will be required. All other rodeo species will follow FWCC rules and regulations. King Challenge participants are eligible for all species in the General Rodeo (see general rodeo rules). All King Mackerel must be caught from the registered boat by rod-n-reel, no other devices or methods will be permitted. Fish will be measured using the Check-It Stick brand measuring device which will be available at the Captain’s Meeting to compare your measuring device to. PRIZES for the King Challenge are limited to one per boat. Bonus prizes and cash awards are supplemental prizes. All winners are subject to a polygraph and are required to sign a sworn affidavit. Social Security numbers will be required for any prize of $600.00 or more. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the earliest official weigh-in time.

CASH AWARDS: Optional cash awards will consist of $500.00, $300.00, $200.00, and $100.00 cash categories for King Mackerel only and a $100 daily. Each category will be paid out for first, second, and third place based on a 50%, 30%, and 20% split of total monies minus a 10% tournament fee. If there are 5 – 10 entries in a cash optional division then the prizes will be based on a first-place 60% and second place 40% split; 4 or fewer entries in a division will be a winner take all award. All cash award entries must be received by 8:00 pm, June 23, 2023. Any cash winnings totaling over $600 will require a Social Security number. All participants must be entered in the King Challenge and have purchased a general rodeo ticket. You must claim your cash awards by July 28, 2023 or your winnings will be forfeited to the tournament.

• The King Mackerel Challenge is a SKA event, but you are not required to be a member of SKA to participate. All Rodeo rules still apply.
• All anglers must purchase a general rodeo ticket to be eligible for Challenge prizes.
• Prize depth will be based on the total number of boats entered in the Challenge. Please use the below chart as a guideline for prize payout. Prize money will increase and decrease based on the total boat count.• Optional Cash Awards are available for King Mackerel Challenge only.
• Cash awards must be claimed no later than July 28, 2023, or winnings will be forfeited to the tournament.
• Boats are eligible for one prize per division.
• If there are 5-10 entries in a cash optional division then prizes will be based on a 1st place 60% and 2nd place 40% split; 4 or less entries in a division will be winner take all.• $500, $300, $200 & $100

• General Rodeo Tickets: can be purchased online until 8:00 pm, June 23, 2023. ELIGIBLE SPECIES: Redfish (Red Drum), Speckled Trout (Spotted Sea Trout), and Flounder. All fish must be legal to keep and comply with FWCC regulations. Length Requirements: Redfish – measured with the pinched tail not less than 18″ or more than 27″; Speckled Trout – Not less than 15″ or more than 19″ may not possess more than one over 19″ per vessel; and, Flounder – minimum length of 12″. The InShore Challenge participants are eligible for all species in the General Rodeo (see general rodeo rules). All InShore eligible species must be caught from the registered boat by rod-n-reel, no other devices or methods will be permitted. All fish must comply with FWCC rules and regulations. Fish will be measured using the Check-It Stick brand measuring device which will be available at the Captain’s Meeting to compare your measuring device to.

BOUNDARIES: The 2023 InShore Challenge boundaries will include fishing between the west boundary, Highway 59 bridge in Gulf Shores, Alabama, to the east boundary, the Mid-Bay Bridge in Destin, Florida. All anglers are subject to a polygraph to verify the catch in boundary.

PRIZES: limited to one per boat. Prizes will be awarded for the Grand Slam. The Grand Slam prizes will be awarded to the boats weighing in the heaviest three fish total (one from each eligible species) over the tournament. If there are no fish entered in all three categories by one boat, then the heaviest total from the two categories will be used. Bonus prizes and cash awards are supplemental prizes. All winners are subject to a polygraph and are required to sign a sworn affidavit. Social Security numbers will be required for any prize of $600.00 or more. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the earliest official weigh-in time.• Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder are the only eligible species.

• Grand Slam consists of the combined total weight of all three species.
• 100% of all entry fees will be returned in prizes.
• All anglers must purchase a general rodeo ticket to be eligible for Challenge prizes. • Prize depth will be based on the total number of boats entered in the Challenge.
• All entries must be received by 8:00 pm, June 23, 2023. All participants must be entered in the InShore Challenge and have purchased a general rodeo ticket including youth and junior anglers. Cash Awards must be claimed by July 28, 2023, or winnings will be forfeited to the tournament.  Any cash winnings totaling over $600 will require a Social Security number.
