The Bayou Hills Run is one of Pensacola’s oldest running events and is partnered with the City of Pensacola to make it the Official Pensacola 5K and 10K City of Pensacola Championships. Runners will have some serious bragging rights for winning the race and their age division. In addition to awards stating “Pensacola City Championships”, the overall male and female winners for both the 5k and 10K will be welcome and recognized at a city council meeting following the race.  

We look forward to working with the community to grow this great, fun, unique event. All proceeds benefit the Golden Elite Track and Field Club and Pensacola Sports.

Race Information

Start and Finish Line

The start and finish will be at Bayview Park (2001 E. Lloyd St.)

Baby strollers/jogging strollers

Baby strollers/jogging strollers are permitted in the race, but please stay at the back of the race corral at the start of the race.

Water Stations

There will be 2 water stations. The first water stop will be utilized twice by the 10k. The second water stop will be utilized by both the 10k and 5k races.

Overall awards for the 10K and 5K runner’s races including overall, masters, grandmasters and senior grand masters will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony following the race at Bayview Park.

Age group awards will be awarded three deep for the 10k and 5k in the following age groups:

  • 0-9
  • 10-12
  • 13-15
  • 16-19
  • 20-24
  • 25-29
  • 30-34
  • 35-39
  • 40-44
  • 45-49
  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60-64
  • 70-74
  • 75+

Age group awards will be awarded three deep for the Kids Race in the following age groups:

  • 0-5
  • 6-7
  • 8-9
  • 10-12

The 5k, 10k, and Kids Race will be scored and age category prizes awarded based on NET TIME, meaning you will only be scored for when you cross the start and finish lines, not when the gun goes off.  Overall awards are scored based on gun time. 

All finishers will receive a finisher’s medal

This is a Pensacola Sports event. This event benefits Pensacola Sports and Golden Elite Track and Field Club. 

Pensacola Sports is a private 501(c)3 not-for-profit sports management agency that focuses on education, inspiration and participation in various team, individual, amateur and professional sports activities.

Our focus is education, inspiration, and participation in various team, individual, amateur, and professional sports activities. Our annual programming includes free youth sports clinics aimed at introducing sports to all children as well as providing safe, fun activities for area youth, the Senior Scholar Athlete Banquet which awards over $100,000 in scholarships partnering with multiple organizations in the community,  a high school all-star series for volleyball, football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball which gives senior athletes recognition and a chance to play in front of college coaches and much more.

Many Pensacola Sports events also directly engage and benefit organizations such as Arc Gateway, The Optimist Club, Police Cadet Programs, and area Rotary Clubs

Timing

The 5k, 10k, and Kids Race will be scored and age category prizes awarded based on NET TIME, meaning you will only be scored for when you cross the start and finish lines, not when the gun goes off.

Scoring

Overall awards are scored based on gun time. Both races will be scored using the IPICO electronic timing system. All bibs will have a disposable chip, you must wear your bib properly in order to be timed.  Once you have crossed the finish line keep moving forward. No chips to remove!

The post-race party will be at Bayview Park,  a perfect setting with great views Bayou Texar, a big playground for the kids, food, beer, and music.
